  • Blink for half a minute: rapid blinking for 30 seconds is adequate; in this way, the tension on the eyelid is reduced. The eye must also be lubricated so that the tic can be controlled.
  • Squeeze the eyelid: this is achieved by closing the eye tightly for at least a minute and relieves a little of the slight muscle spasm. This exercise can be repeated 4 to 5 times or until the contraction subsides.
  • Apply hydrotherapy: this consists of placing an ice cube wrapped in a handkerchief; it is placed on the eye for 10 seconds and is repeated up to 6 times. It can be changed for a hot water bottle or chamomile compresses. In this way, relaxation of the eye will be achieved.
  • It is essential to keep the eye lubricated with drops or physiological solutions.
