Sex After Birth: What to Expect and How Long to Wait

After the baby is born, most couples want to get back to their normal lives and routines as quickly as possible. This includes having sex. However, it is important to give your body time to recover from childbirth before having sex again.

Your vagina will be sore and tender for several weeks after delivery. You may also have stitches (episiotomy) or tears (lacerations) that need to heal. It is important to wait until your body has healed before having sex. It is also important to use birth control when you start having sex again. It is possible to get pregnant before your first period, even if you are breastfeeding.

When should I go to the hospital to give birth?

This is a difficult question to answer, as every pregnancy is different. However, as a general rule of thumb, you should go to the hospital when your contractions are five minutes apart and last for at least 60 seconds. If you are unsure, it is always better to err on the side of caution and go to the hospital.

When to start exercising after delivery?

After you have your baby, you may be eager to start exercising again. However, it’s important to listen to your body and give yourself time to recover before starting an exercise routine. Depending on how your delivery went, you may need to wait four to six weeks before resuming any strenuous activity. Walking is a great way to start moving your body again post-delivery. Care after a cesarean section

Care after a cesarean section is similar to care after a vaginal delivery. You will likely spend two to three days in the hospital. You will have some pain and discomfort as you heal. You may also have pain from the incision, which is typically made in the lower abdomen. Your doctor will prescribe pain medication to help you manage the pain. You will also have a dressing over the incision, which will need to be changed regularly.

If you have an erased cervix, it means that your cervix is no longer visible on an ultrasound. This is usually due to scar tissue from previous surgery or pregnancy. An erased cervix is not a cause for concern and does not need to be treated.
