Sex After Birth: What to Expect and How Long to Wait

After the baby is born, most couples want to get back to their normal lives and routines as quickly as possible. This includes having sex. However, it is important to give your body time to recover from childbirth before having sex again.

Your vagina will be sore and tender for several weeks after delivery. You may also have stitches (episiotomy) or tears (lacerations) that need to heal. It is important to wait until your body has healed before having sex. It is also important to use birth control when you start having sex again. It is possible to get pregnant before your first period, even if you are breastfeeding.

When should I go to the hospital to give birth?

This is a difficult question to answer, as every pregnancy is different. If you are unsure, it is always better to err on the side of caution and go to the hospital.

When to start exercising after delivery?

After you have your baby, you may be eager to start exercising again. However, it’s important to listen to your body and give yourself time to recover before starting an exercise routine. You will also have a dressing over the incision, which will need to be changed regularly.

What does it feel like to break waters?

For most women, their water breaking is the first sign that labor has begun. It can feel like a small gush or a large flood of water and is usually clear or pale straw-colored. Some women report feeling a pop or a gush, while others leak slowly. Regardless of how it feels, once your water has broken, it’s time to head to the hospital or birth center.
