Knee Injuries and Diseases

Knee Injuries and Diseases are common problems for many people. There are many different types of knee injuries and diseases, and each one can be very serious. If you have a knee injury or disease, you must see a doctor immediately to get the treatment you need.

Some common knee injuries:

Blow to the knee: Blow to the knee can result in a knee injury. Knee injuries can also occur from overuse, such as from playing sports. Diseases of the knee are also common, such as arthritis.

Knee pain when climbing stairs: Knee pain is often a sign of osteoarthritis, a degenerative joint disease. The pain is caused by the deterioration of the cartilage that cushions the knee joint. Treatment options include weight loss, exercise, and pain medication.

Knee pain when walking: Knee pain when walking is often a sign of arthritis. If you’re experiencing knee pain when walking, it’s likely a sign of arthritis. Arthritis is a common condition that causes inflammation in the joints and can be incredibly painful.

Lump in the knee: If you have a lump on your knee, it could be a sign of a Baker’s cyst, which is a fluid-filled sac that forms behind the knee. Baker’s cysts are usually benign and don’t cause any symptoms, but they can become large and painful if they rupture.

Burning knee: Burning knee pain can be a sign of several different conditions. The three most common causes of burning knee pain are patellar tendinitis, Baker’s cyst, and arthritis. Patellar tendinitis is the inflammation of the tendon that connects the kneecap to the shinbone.

Fluid in the knee: Fluid in the knee is called an effusion. When there is too much effusion, it can put pressure on the kneecap and cause pain. There are several ways to treat effusion, depending on the cause.

Pain below the knee: Pain below the knee cap is a common symptom of patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS), also called runner’s knee. PFPS is a condition that results when the patella (knee cap) rubs against the femur (thigh bone), causing pain and irritation.

Knee meniscus tear: A knee meniscus tear is a common knee injury that can occur when the knee is suddenly twisted or bent. The meniscus is a C-shaped piece of cartilage that acts as a shock absorber between the bones in the knee.

Swollen knee: Swollen knee can be painful and make it hard to move the joint. Knee injuries and diseases can be caused by a number of things, including overuse, arthritis, and trauma. Treatment depends on the specific condition but may include rest, ice, physical therapy, or surgery.

Stitches in the knee: Stitches in the knee are not uncommon and can be caused by a number of things, such as a laceration from a fall or a sports injury. In most cases, the stitches will dissolve on their own and do not require any medical intervention.

Knee sprain: A knee sprain is a common injury that can occur during sports or other physical activities. The ligaments in your knee can be stretched or torn when your knee is suddenly twisted or turned. Knee sprains can range from mild to severe, depending on the extent of the damage.

Knee bone edema: Knee bone edema is a condition that results in the accumulation of fluid in the bone marrow. This can be caused by various factors, including trauma, infection, and cancer.

Pain behind the knee: Pain behind the knee is a common symptom of several conditions, including Baker’s cyst, blood clots, meniscus tears, and popliteal tendonitis. Baker’s cysts are fluid-filled sacs that form behind the knee and are often the result of arthritis.

Knee pain when flexing: Knee pain when flexing is a sign of ligament damage. If you experience knee pain when you flex your knee, it may be a sign of damage to your ligaments. Ligament damage can occur due to a traumatic injury, overuse, or degenerative disease.
