Chagas disease: Chagas disease is a parasitic infection caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi. It is transmitted to humans primarily through the bite of the triatomine bug, and can also be transmitted through blood transfusions, organ transplants, or contact with contaminated food or drink.
