Antifungals are a class of drugs used to treat fungal infections. They can be either topical (applied to the skin or nails) or systemic (taken by mouth or injection). Common topical antifungals include clotrimazole, ketoconazole, and terbinafine. Systemic antifungals include fluconazole, itraconazole, and griseofulvin.

What are antifungals?

Who is at risk for fungal infections?

Fungal infections can occur in anyone, but some people are at greater risk. This includes people with weakened immune systems, diabetes, and chronic lung diseases. What do antifungals treat?

How do antifungal medications work?

There are a few different antifungal medications, but they all work by either killing the fungus or preventing it from growing. Some common antifungals include clotrimazole, ketoconazole, and fluconazole. These medications can be taken orally or applied directly to the affected area.

How do you take antifungal medications?

Some antifungals are taken by mouth as a pill, liquid, or capsule. Others are applied to the skin as a cream, ointment, powder, or spray. Antifungal medications usually need to be taken for several weeks to kill the fungus.

Some Common Antifungals:

Gine-Canestén cream: Gine-Canestén cream is an antifungal that can be used to treat vaginal infections. The active ingredient in the cream is clotrimazole, which is an antifungal agent that helps to kill the fungi that cause infections.

Laurimic cream: Laurimic cream is an antifungal medicine used to treat skin infections caused by fungi. The active ingredient in Laurimic cream is miconazole nitrate, an azole antifungal.

Gitrasek: Gitrasek is an antifungal medication that is used to treat infections caused by certain types of fungi. The active ingredient in Gitrasek™ is an antifungal agent called ketoconazole.
