You have probably heard very little about this drug, which is also considered one of the most effective for treating flatulence and other gastrointestinal diseases, especially those related to pancreatic insufficiency.

The Onoton has within its components hemicellulase, simethicone, extract of ox bile, and pancreatin. Four components enhance each other in terms of their benefits. Pancreatin allows the digestion of fats, sugars, and proteins; hemicellulase is the enzyme in charge of hydrolyzing hemicellulose; ox bile extract promotes pancreatic secretion, and simethicone breaks the surface tension of bubbles that can form along the gastrointestinal tract.

It is used effectively to treat flatulence, dyspepsia, heartburn, among other conditions. If you want to know more about this drug, we invite you to continue reading this FastlyHealarticle concerning what Onoton is for and how it is taken.

What is Onotón for?

The Onoton is composed of four fundamental elements that allow it to act effectively in different situations:

  1. Hemicellulase is an enzyme that is responsible for hydrolyzing a polysaccharide, hemicellulose.
  2. The extract of ox bile allows the digestion of fats and, in addition, promotes pancreatic secretion.
  3. The simethicone is responsible for breaking the surface tension of the bubbles along the gastrointestinal tract to form belching and flatulence.
  4. The pancreatin is formed by three enzymes (lipase, protease, and amylase) responsible digest fats, sugars, and proteins.

Onoton is an easily obtained drug that is used to:

  1. Eliminate flatulence.
  2. Encourage the easy absorption of food after its previous degradation.
  3. Treat conditions related to insufficiency of the pancreas, such as pancreatic fibrosis, where there is a loss of function of the pancreas. Chronic pancreatitis is sustained inflammation of the pancreas after pancreatectomy, which removes part or all of the pancreas.
  4. Treat chronic gastroenteritis and dyspepsia.
  5. Treat esophageal heartburn or heartburn due to the properties of the enzymes.
  6. Eliminate gas before taking an abdominal X-ray.

How to take Onotón

Onoton is available in tablets of 175 mg of pancreatin, 50 mg of hemicellulase, 25 mg of simethicone, and excipients, in boxes of 20, 50, and 100 tablets.

The proper way to administer it will depend exclusively on the condition. However, taking 1 or 2 tablets orally after each meal is recommended.

It is not recommended to chew them, crush them, or keep them in the mouth for a long time. In addition, they should be taken with enough water since they can even irritate the oral mucosa.

This medicine should not be administered with hot food or hot drinks.

In the case of eliminating gases before an abdominal X-ray, the patient will require two tablets before each meal at least 24 hours before the X-ray.

If you forget a dose of Onoton, take it as soon as possible as you remember it but without doubling the dose.
